Tag
Jeez, Louise, I get away from the blogosphere for a couple days and I'm come back to find myself tagged, this time by my good man Darcey at Dust My Broom.
Let me see ...
Number of books I own: Maybe 130 or so. I sell many of the books I've read to used book stores as I don't have a lot of room to store. (My CD collection, on the other hand, is much more impressive).
Last book purchased: Goethe's Faust, parts I and II.
Last book read: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (saw the movie, had to re-read the book -- book was better)

5 books which mean a lot to me:
- Barney's Version by Mordecai Richler -- I was Mordecai's host for a day in Saskatoon about a year and a bit before he passed away and I got drunk with him, Guy Vanderhaeghe and then-Premier Roy Romanow;
- The Cash Nexus by Niall Ferguson -- probably THE ultimate history of Western economics, power and politics of the past 300 years;
- The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald -- no reason other than I read it plenty of times in university;
- The Chronicles of Narnia compilation by C. S. Lewis -- a favorite from my childhood, more fascinating than Harry Potter, not as boring as The Lord of the Rings;
- Candide by Voltaire -- biting social satire, considered by many to be "The Simpsons of the 18th century".
